📊 MIXED Arcosa raises 2026 Adj. EBITDA guidance to $565M after strong Q1, barge sale simplifies portfolio.
Revenue & Profitability
In Q1 2026 from continuing operations, Arcosa generated $58 million in operating cash flow and $21 million in free cash flow. Adjusted EBITDA grew 10% year-over-year, double the revenue growth rate. The company raised its full-year 2026 Adjusted EBITDA guidance to $565 million at the midpoint, up $22.5 million from prior guidance, representing 11% year-over-year growth. The midpoint of the revenue guidance implies a 6% increase to approximately $2.575 billion.
Outlook
Management sees durable multi-year tailwinds from U.S. infrastructure investment and power market expansion, driven by data centers, reshoring, and new power generation. In construction, demand is supported by highway spending in Texas (off-peak but positive) and New Jersey (budget increases for DOT and Transit Authority). Heavy non-residential activity benefits from LNG opportunities in the Gulf Coast. However, residential volume recovery is pushed to 2027 due to affordability and weakened consumer confidence from rising oil prices. The newly enacted steel tariffs on products made in Mexico (10% on finished value) are being passed through via contractual protections.
Growth Drivers
Utility structures is the primary growth driver, with Q1 revenue growth exceeding 15% supported by both volume and pricing, and record margins. The company is converting two former wind tower plants (Illinois and Oklahoma) to produce utility poles to align capacity with strong demand. A new galvanizing facility in Mexico became commercially operational in Q2 2026. In Construction Products, the aggregates business achieved 4% volume growth and 2% pricing growth, with Texas outperforming. M&A bolt-on acquisitions in natural and recycled aggregates (e.g., $60 million Florida acquisition) are active priorities.
Balance Sheet & CapEx
Full-year 2026 CapEx for continuing operations is guided at $215-$240 million, slightly down from prior range. Q1 CapEx was $44 million (up from $33 million prior year), reflecting increased investment in core growth platforms. Notable investments include the Illinois wind-to-utility-pole plant conversion (critical equipment installed, expected production by end Q2), a new galvanizing facility in Mexico (first tape in April, commercially operational in Q2), and planning for conversion of the Oklahoma wind tower plant. Additionally, $60 million was deployed for a natural aggregates acquisition in Florida.
Margins
In Q1 2026, overall Adjusted EBITDA margin expanded 100 basis points year-over-year from continuing operations. Engineered Structures achieved a record segment margin of 21.1%, up 300 bps, driven by utility structures margin expansion and favorable product mix. Construction Products' aggregates segment delivered a 220 bps improvement in adjusted cash gross profit margin, with cash gross profit per ton up 7%. For full year 2026, management expects overall margin to expand to a record 21.3%. Startup costs for the Illinois plant and the galvanizer will peak in Q2 before abating in the second half.
Key Risks
Risks flagged include: new 10% steel tariff on utility structures manufactured in Mexico with U.S. steel (effective April 6, 2026), though contractual protections are in place to pass through the impact. Rising diesel prices (up ~$1.50/gallon in footprint) create a 4-5% headwind to cash unit profitability for aggregates, partially mitigated by fuel surcharges and loading fees. Geopolitical uncertainty from the Middle East conflict has increased oil prices and weakened consumer confidence, but management has not seen weaker demand in its construction footprint. Residential volume recovery pushed out to 2027 due to affordability challenges.
