📊 MIXED Q1 2026: organic sales +1%, adj EPS $2.47 (+7% Y/Y), pre-buy $0.05 tailwind
Revenue & Profitability
Reported sales increased 7% year-over-year, with organic sales up 1%. Adjusted EPS was $2.47, up 7% year-over-year. Adjusted EBITDA margin was 16.4%, comparable to prior year. Adjusted free cash flow was $104 million in the quarter.
Outlook
Management expects sequential earnings growth through the year, driven by productivity, high-value category recovery, and intelligent labels ramp in the second half. However, they note heightened raw material inflation (high single-digit sequential inflation in Q2) and geopolitical uncertainty. The outlook assumes no further deterioration in the macro environment. Q2 guidance: organic sales growth 0%-2%, adjusted EPS $2.43-$2.53.
Growth Drivers
Key growth levers include the enterprise intelligent labels platform, which is expected to grow above 2025 levels, heavily weighted to the second half due to the Walmart food rollout. In Materials Group, base label categories grew mid single digits, while high-value categories (graphics, reflectives, performance materials) are expected to return to growth through the year. Geographic strength: Europe and Asia Pacific labels grew ~10%, Latin America high single digits, North America mid single digits.
Balance Sheet & CapEx
Full-year fixed and IT capital spending is targeted at approximately $260 million. Additionally, the company made a $75 million incremental investment in Wiliot to deepen the partnership and accelerate intelligent labels adoption in retail, food, and logistics.
Margins
Adjusted EBITDA margin was 16.4% in Q1, comparable to prior year. Materials Group margin expanded 10 basis points, driven by productivity and pricing. Solutions Group margin declined 80 basis points to 16.4%, due to higher employee costs, lower base volumes, and growth investments. Management expects margin improvement from continued productivity actions and pricing to offset inflation.
Key Risks
Risks flagged include raw material inflation (high single-digit sequential inflation in Q2), potential destocking after customer pre-buys in March/April, softer logistics customer demand, high employee-related costs, and geopolitical uncertainty. Management also noted potential consumer elasticity from price increases and the challenge of estimating volume impacts from macro headwinds.

Financial Model
Projections are built from each company's audited annual financials (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) over the last 5 fiscal years. Forward assumptions — revenue growth %, EBITDA margin, D&A (USD millions), interest expense, tax rate, and capex — are AI-generated using historical context and refreshed twice a year: after the December results season and after the September/Q4 results season.
