What Went Right
  • Record Q2 revenue of $9.5B, up 9% YoY, with international revenues up 12% led by China.
  • Power Systems segment revenue up 19% to $2.3B on strong data center demand; China power generation sales +88%.
  • FY26 revenue growth outlook raised from 8–11% to 10–13%, with EBITDA margin guidance midpoint increased.
What to Watch
  • Tariffs partially offset volumes/pricing, though net impact was immaterial; NA construction demand remains uncertain.
  • Higher incentive compensation tied to record full-year projections pressured Q2 EBITDA margin down 90bps YoY.
  • Distribution EBITDA margin guidance lowered to 13.5%–14.25% due to higher incentive comp and freight costs.
Management Guidance
  • Full-year 2026 revenue growth raised to 10%–13% (from 8%–11%).
  • Full-year EBITDA margin expected at 18.0%–18.5% (from 17.75%–18.5%).
  • Power Systems revenue growth reaffirmed at 15%–25%; Accelera revenue now $350M–$400M with net loss of $260M–$290M.
Investor Lens
The thesis is stronger after this call: record revenue, raised full-year guidance, and a multi-year hyperscaler agreement securing gigawatts of backup power demand support long-term growth. Capacity investments and EPA 2027 clarity reduce transition risk, though EBITDA margin dipped from incentive comp and tariffs. H2 margin expansion is expected as incentive comp normalizes and demand stays robust. Overall, the demand environment, especially data centers and China, appears to be accelerating faster than previously anticipated.

📈 STRONG Strong record quarter: revenue up 9%, FY outlook raised.
Revenue
Q2 revenue was $9.5B, up 9% YoY. North America sales rose 8%, while international grew 12%, led by China (total revenue incl. JVs up 30%). Power Systems drove the strength with a record $2.3B (+19%).
Profitability
Net income was $932M, or $6.73 per diluted share, up ~5% from $890M ($6.43) a year ago. Operating cash flow was a record $1.5B in the quarter.
Margins
EBITDA margin was 17.5%, down 90bps YoY, as higher volumes, pricing and JV earnings were offset by tariffs and higher incentive compensation. Gross margin was 26.1% vs 26.4% a year ago, with dollar gross profit up year-over-year.
Balance Sheet
Operating cash flow of $1.5B and $501M returned to shareholders via dividends and buybacks. Quarterly dividend was raised 10% to $2.20/share. CapEx guidance is $1.35B–$1.45B for 2026.
Key Risks
Tariffs remain a partial offset and NA construction is flat given uncertainty. Mining guidance was cut to -5% to +5% on elevated inventories. Power generation capacity constraints limit near-term growth, and higher incentive comp pressured Q2 margins.
Outlook
FY26 revenue growth is now guided to 10%–13%, with EBITDA margin at 18.0%–18.5%. Management expects stronger H2 led by NA truck demand and continued power generation strength.
