📊 MIXED Generac Q1 2026 sales up 12% to $1.06B; raises full-year EBITDA margin to 18.5%-19.5%.
Revenue & Profitability
Q1 2026 net sales increased 12% to $1.06 billion from $942 million. GAAP net income was $73 million ($1.24 per share) vs. $44 million a year ago; adjusted net income was $106 million ($1.80 per share). Adjusted EBITDA was $193 million (18.3% margin), up from $150 million (15.9% margin). Free cash flow was $90 million vs. $27 million in Q1 2025.
Outlook
Management sees a multi-year growth opportunity in data center backup power driven by AI demand, with two hyperscale customers in final approval stages. Telecom and rental markets are entering upcycles. Residential demand assumes a return to baseline power outage environment in H2 2026, offsetting a soft H2 2025. Key headwinds include tariff uncertainty and geopolitical instability in the Middle East and Latin America.
Growth Drivers
C&I segment growth is propelled by data center customers (backlog over $700 million, plus a $600 million non-binding notice to proceed for 2027), telecom (multi-year cycle), and rental equipment (re-fleeting cycle aided by the Allmand acquisition). Residential growth is driven by home standby generators (price + volume) and the ramp of PowerMicro microinverters, with ecobee reaching positive adjusted EBITDA in Q1.
Balance Sheet & CapEx
Full-year 2026 capital expenditures are projected at approximately 3.5% of sales, elevated for capacity expansion. The new Sussex, Wisconsin facility is on track to begin production in H2 2026, increasing domestic large-megawatt generator capacity to over $1 billion by Q4. Free cash flow guidance for 2026 is approximately $350 million, weighted to the second half.
Margins
Q1 2026 adjusted EBITDA margin improved to 18.3% from 15.9%, with Residential segment up 500 bps to 25.1% (driven by OpEx savings from Generac Home) and C&I up 160 bps to 13.0%. Full-year gross margin guidance was raised to 38.5%-39.5% (up ~50 bps), and adjusted EBITDA margin guidance raised to 18.5%-19.5%, with Q4 expected near 20%.
Key Risks
Risks flagged include: tariff and trade policy uncertainty (IEPA removal offset by Section 122, 232, 301 tariffs), geopolitical instability in Middle East and Latin America, reliance on baseline power outage assumptions for residential growth, supply chain constraints for engines and other components, and the need for additional capital expenditure to capture hyperscale data center demand.

Financial Model
Projections are built from each company's audited annual financials (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) over the last 5 fiscal years. Forward assumptions — revenue growth %, EBITDA margin, D&A (USD millions), interest expense, tax rate, and capex — are AI-generated using historical context and refreshed twice a year: after the December results season and after the September/Q4 results season.

DCF Valuation
Fair Value = Σ(FCFt / (1+WACC)t) + Terminal Value. Terminal Value uses the Gordon Growth Model: FCF5 × (1+g) / (WACC−g). Default WACC: 10% (US risk-free ~4.5%, equity risk premium ~5.5%). Default terminal growth: 3% (long-run US nominal GDP proxy).

CAGR Tracker
Expected 5-year CAGR = (DCF Fair Value / Current Price)1/5 − 1. Assumes fair value is reached in exactly 5 years — a mechanical estimate only.
