📊 MIXED Maravai delivers strong Q1 2026 with 41% revenue growth and raised guidance
Revenue & Profitability
Q1 2026 total revenue was $65.8 million, up 41% year-over-year; base business (ex-COVID CleanCap) grew 10%. GAAP net loss was $6.4 million, improved from a $52.9 million loss in Q1 2025. Adjusted EBITDA was $20.3 million, up more than $30 million year-over-year. The company generated $4.2 million of positive free cash flow, its first positive quarter since Q3 2024. Basic and diluted loss per share was $0.02, adjusted EPS was +$0.01.
Outlook
Management sees strong demand in biopharma and biotech, especially large discovery orders, while academic research remains soft. The GMP funnel is healthy, with nine RUO-to-GMP conversions expected in 2026 (two already completed). China is viewed as a mid-single-digit growth opportunity for Cygnus, with timing-related softness in Q1. For COVID CleanCap, no additional high-volume revenue is expected in 2026; endemic demand of $10-$20 million annually is the baseline.
Growth Drivers
Key growth levers include: TriLink base business (15% growth in Q1) driven by GMP and discovery consumables; ModTail adoption with over 70 customers; upcoming GMP-grade ModTail and GMP enzymes; Cygnus growth from new DNA quantification/extraction kits and MockV product. Geographically, North America and EMEA are strong; Asia (especially China) is a future opportunity. E-commerce channel hit record revenue in Q1.
Balance Sheet & CapEx
Maravai completed its GMP facility for enzymes; capex details were not discussed beyond that. The company made a voluntary $50 million debt repayment in Q1. No specific CapEx guidance was provided, but the focus remains on improving free cash flow.
Margins
Adjusted gross margin was 65.3% in Q1 2026, benefiting from higher revenue, favorable product mix (higher-margin GMP and discovery consumables), and cost discipline. Adjusted EBITDA margin improved significantly, with full-year EBITDA guidance raised to $30-$32 million. Restructuring actions are expected to deliver more than $65 million in annual EBITDA savings. Management expects continued gross margin expansion of greater than 1,300 basis points for the full year.
Key Risks
Management flagged quarter-to-quarter revenue variability due to large orders tied to customer program progression. China distributor ordering timing caused softness in Cygnus Q1, expected to normalize. The academic research segment remains weak, though it is a small portion of revenue. The company also noted that large discovery order visibility is limited due to short sales cycles (2-3 months).

Q2 2026 Q2 2026 2026-08-06
Q2 2026 saw 9% revenue growth, margin expansion, and strong execution across both segments. TriLink's GMP consumables and discovery mRNA drove results, while Cygnus maintained steady growth. Guidance remains prudent due to variability in large orders, but profitability and liquidity have improved.
Q1 2026 Q1 2026 2026-05-07
Q1 2026 saw 41% revenue growth year-over-year, strong TriLink and Cygnus performance, and positive free cash flow. Full-year guidance was raised for both revenue and EBITDA, driven by high-margin GMP consumables and operational improvements.
Q4 2025 Q4 2025 2026-02-25
Delivered revenue and adjusted EBITDA above expectations, driven by cost savings, new product launches, and strong customer demand. Guidance for 2026 calls for 8–13% revenue growth, margin expansion, and continued operational improvements.
Q3 2025 Q3 2025 2025-11-06
Q3 revenue declined year-over-year due to order timing and COVID product headwinds, but cost restructuring and innovation initiatives are positioning for strong Q4 growth and a return to positive adjusted EBITDA in 2026. BST showed solid growth, while NAP is expected to rebound next quarter.
Q2 2025 Q2 2025 2025-08-11
Q2 2025 saw revenue decline and a larger net loss, but base business grew modestly. Major restructuring aims to cut $50M+ in annual costs, with a focus on operational efficiency and digital expansion. Positive adjusted EBITDA and free cash flow are targeted for H2 2026, independent of high-volume CleanCap.

Financial Model
Projections are built from each company's audited annual financials (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) over the last 5 fiscal years. Forward assumptions — revenue growth %, EBITDA margin, D&A (USD millions), interest expense, tax rate, and capex — are AI-generated using historical context and refreshed twice a year: after the December results season and after the September/Q4 results season.

DCF Valuation
Fair Value = Σ(FCFt / (1+WACC)t) + Terminal Value. Terminal Value uses the Gordon Growth Model: FCF5 × (1+g) / (WACC−g). Default WACC: 10% (US risk-free ~4.5%, equity risk premium ~5.5%). Default terminal growth: 3% (long-run US nominal GDP proxy).

CAGR Tracker
Expected 5-year CAGR = (DCF Fair Value / Current Price)1/5 − 1. Assumes fair value is reached in exactly 5 years — a mechanical estimate only.
