📊 MIXED Bank OZK Q1 2026: NIM 4.20%, CIB growth, efficiency ratio 39%
Revenue & Profitability
Explicit revenue or net income figures were not provided in the call. The net interest margin (NIM) was 4.20%. The efficiency ratio stood at 39%. Within CIB, the average spread on new deals increased by 12 basis points quarter-over-quarter.
Outlook
Management views the U.S. economy as surprisingly resilient, though headwinds persist in office and life science real estate. RESG repayments are expected to ease significantly in 2027, with potential growth resuming in 2028. The bank is agnostic to near-term rate moves, as benefits from variable-rate loans are offset by credit costs.
Growth Drivers
Primary growth drivers include CIB expansion (new verticals like Franchise Capital Solutions, and 42 industry niches), fee income from syndications, interest rate hedging, and treasury management. Indirect lending continues to grow at a steady pace. RESG is expected to be a neutral to slightly negative contributor in 2027.
Balance Sheet & CapEx
Not discussed in this earnings call.
Margins
The net interest margin (NIM) is currently 4.20%. Management expects margin to remain relatively stable regardless of rate moves, with modest improvements from securities purchases (agency MBS and muni housing bonds yielding around 4.60-6%). The efficiency ratio is in the high 30% range, with a goal of gradual improvement over the longer term.
Key Risks
Key risks include credit deterioration in RESG's office, life science, and land portfolios, though losses are expected to be contained due to low leverage. Deposit competition remains elevated, though the bank reduced deposit costs by 18 basis points in Q1. Interest rate uncertainty is a factor, but management states the bank is relatively agnostic to direction.

Financial Model
Projections are built from each company's audited annual financials (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) over the last 5 fiscal years. Forward assumptions — revenue growth %, EBITDA margin, D&A (USD millions), interest expense, tax rate, and capex — are AI-generated using historical context and refreshed twice a year: after the December results season and after the September/Q4 results season.

DCF Valuation
Fair Value = Σ(FCFt / (1+WACC)t) + Terminal Value. Terminal Value uses the Gordon Growth Model: FCF5 × (1+g) / (WACC−g). Default WACC: 10% (US risk-free ~4.5%, equity risk premium ~5.5%). Default terminal growth: 3% (long-run US nominal GDP proxy).

CAGR Tracker
Expected 5-year CAGR = (DCF Fair Value / Current Price)1/5 − 1. Assumes fair value is reached in exactly 5 years — a mechanical estimate only.
