📊 MIXED Twist Q2 2026 revenue $110.7M (+19% YoY), 13th consecutive sequential growth
Revenue & Profitability
Q2 FY2026 revenue was $110.7 million, up 19.3% year-over-year. Gross margin was 51.6%, improving approximately 200 basis points. Adjusted EBITDA loss was $13.3 million, improving $1.5 million year-over-year. The company ended the quarter with $171.7 million in cash and short-term investments. Full-year fiscal 2026 revenue guidance is $442-$447 million, and Q3 FY2026 revenue guidance is $114-$115 million.
Outlook
Management expressed confidence in the trajectory for both DNA synthesis/protein solutions and NGS. AI-enabled drug discovery is accelerating and expanding beyond early adopters to dozens of accounts. The diagnostics market, especially MRD (minimal residual disease) testing, is driving NGS growth, with expectations for NGS to return to 20% growth by Q4 FY2026. The company reiterated its goal of adjusted EBITDA breakeven in Q4 FY2026.
Growth Drivers
Key growth drivers include AI-enabled drug discovery, which fueled 28% growth in DNA synthesis and protein solutions and 55% growth in therapeutics revenue ($40.8 million). NGS applications grew 12% year-over-year and 9% sequentially, driven by oncology diagnostics and MRD adoption. Geographically, APAC grew 30% year-over-year (though China is only 1% of total revenue). The company also licensed the B-Body bispecific platform and is launching a complex DNA offering to capture additional share by accepting up to 99.5% of clonal genes.
Balance Sheet & CapEx
In Q2 FY2026, CapEx was $7.9 million, directed primarily toward manufacturing automation. Management continues to invest in new product offerings and manufacturing capacity, particularly for IgG and characterization services, to support accelerated demand. The company has automated internal workflows to increase capacity multiple times within existing facilities.
Margins
Gross margin in Q2 FY2026 was 51.6%, up approximately 200 basis points year-over-year. The sequential moderation reflects deliberate investment in IgG characterization and digital capabilities. Management reiterated confidence in achieving 52% or better gross margin for the full year. As the company automates workflows, it expects a 75%-80% average drop-through on incremental revenue to gross margin. Cost actions, including a reduction of 36 positions, are expected to contribute to a $6 million sequential improvement in operating expenses in Q4 FY2026.
Key Risks
Risks discussed include funding pressure in the academic and government end market, which is shrinking but where the company is gaining share. China revenue remains a small portion (approximately 1% of total). The company also faces risks from litigation; a securities class action was settled for approximately $17.1 million, with $7.2 million booked in Q2 FY2026 net of recoveries. Acceptance rate improvements are needed to capture full order potential, as some customers route entire orders elsewhere if a single sequence is not accepted.

Projections are built from each company's audited annual financials (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) over the last 5 fiscal years. Forward assumptions — revenue growth %, EBITDA margin, D&A (USD millions), interest expense, tax rate, and capex — are AI-generated using historical context and refreshed twice a year: after the December results season and after the September/Q4 results season.
